Tunnel Construction Crew

From ebay (#6224324902, November 2005):

This is a good cabinet card photographic image from the Canadian Pacific wilderness of a construction crew posed in front of and atop a tunnel opening that they are working in. Card is a bit larger than the others at 7" by 9" and it is in good condition, but with 2 corners missing and some light matte staining. The image is wonderfully composed but slightly grainy. There are 5 men atop the tunnel opening along with the large crew down in front that includes a dog on the wheeled cart, along with a cast iron cook stove with pots used for cooking meals for the crew. The name of the tunnel is written in the negative, bottom center, but it is difficult to read without more knowledge of the area names and places. This is part of a terrific lot of 15 stereoviews and 40 cabinet card photographs of the Canadian Rockies in western Canada, particularly the Selkirk Mountains in British Columbia, taken by a few different photographers in the 1880s. Subjects are mostly associated with the exploration and building of the Canadian Pacific Railway through that remote wilderness area, and several are of the trains, trestles, and some great images of the actual workers.
