Columbia River Supply Boat

See Image:Cprcc7.jpg for close up.

From the Ebay description (#6221972479, November 2005, sold for $41USD):

This is a rare cabinet card photographic image from the Canadian Pacific wilderness of a supply boat that was built to haul supplies up the Columbia River for the construction of the railroad by the C.P.R. in the Silkerk Mountains. Card is 5" by 8" and it is in good condition with some light staining, and there is one small corner missing in the upper left. This is a fairly large boat with boom cranes made for hauling and handling cargo, and the crew is standing on deck for the photo. This is the only yellow mount card in the group of 40, so it may have been taken by a different photographer, but it is with the group to document the process of building the railroad. This is part of a terrific lot of 15 stereoviews and 40 cabinet card photographs of the Canadian Rockies in western Canada, particularly the Silkerk Mountains in British Columbia, taken by a few different photographers in the 1880s. Subjects are mostly associated with the exploration and building of the Canadian Pacific Railway through that remote wilderness area, and several are of the trains, trestles, and some great images of the actual workers.
