This is a great cabinet card photographic image from the Canadian Pacific wilderness titled Mountain Creek Bridge Framing Yard, Silkerk Mts, B.C. Card is 5" by 8" and in excellent condition with minor foxing on the left margin and a slight corner bump lower right. This image shows a huge crew of workmen for the C.P.R. standing in the framing yard in front of a big wooden trestle bridge under construction. There could be 100 men in this group with a couple of horses, and there is a bit of snow on the ground. There is a bit of soft focus area in the center foreground, but the rest of the photo is nicely focused. This is part of a terrific lot of 15 stereoviews and 40 cabinet card photographs of the Canadian Rockies in western Canada, particularly the Silkerk Mountains in British Columbia, taken by a few different photographers in the 1880s. Subjects are mostly associated with the exploration and building of the Canadian Pacific Railway through that remote wilderness area, and several are of the trains, trestles, and some great images of the actual workers.
